Roger Wickenden B Vet Med MRCVS Veterinary Director

Roger has been a joint director at Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre since 1985. He followed his father, vet Peter Wickenden, into the family run veterinary practice at No 1 Midland Road where he grew up. He is a highly experienced vet having qualified in 1977 at the Royal Veterinary College. He worked in the USA for two years, completing a post graduate qualification at Cornell University. With over 30 years as a vet, Roger is a skilled, experienced surgeon who enjoys performing difficult orthopaedic and other complicated surgical procedures. Roger constantly keeps his skills updated and attends courses to encompass new techniques. He uses the latest surgery technique to repair ruptured cruciate ligaments in dogs called the TTA MMP procedure where a titanium wedge implant is used in the stifle joint. The success of patients' recovery to full function is outstanding following this operation.
