Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre aims to provide the best of modern veterinary treatments for pet animals and their owners in a caring environment. Our veterinary practice is owned and run by Roger and Cathy Wickenden. Situated in central Hemel Hempstead we are also in easy reach for travelling from Berkhamsted, Kings Langley and Bovingdon. We are in a convenient location for clients, on the junction of Midland Road and Alexandra Road. There is a large free car park right next to our practice building. Our extended opening hours give more convenient access for our clients. You can view more information about our teams in 'Our staff'. Our 24 hr emergency and Night service is located at the practice and is run on-site by experienced Vets Now staff. So at nights, weekends and Bank holidays you will always be seen right here and if your pet then needs an urgent hospital admission the facilities are here. All hospitalised patients are cared for out of hours by Vets Now emergency staff.
Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre is an independant, family-owned practice and has no connection with any other corporate veterinary company. There are 4 veterinary surgeons and 8 veterinary nurses plus 4 receptionists and 2 Practice Administrators. Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre was established in Hemel Hempstead over 50 years ago. It is a very long-standing family business, owned and run by Roger and Catherine Wickenden, son and daughter-in-law of the original vet Mr Peter Wickenden MRCVS. Dogs, cats, rabbits, small pets, birds and reptiles are all treated professionally and our well trained, friendly staff provide a high quality service. Because our vets and nurses are all pet owners too, we can understand and sympathise with the feelings and concerns you have for your own pets.

Roger and Catherine Wickenden, plus the veterinary surgeon team, all contribute to a wide range of skills within the practice. They each have their own particular fields of interest and have followed in-depth studies in various aspects of surgery and medicine to add to the comprehensive care and expertise provided for pets by Barton Lodge vets.

For thirteen years our Head Veterinary Nurse Nicci Hawes RVN has lead our team of enthusiastic qualified and student Veterinary Nurses. Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre is an offical approved Training Practice where Veterinary Nurses gain their VN qualification and has received RCVS Practice Standards accreditation. Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre has gained recognition of our whole practice committment to staff training and development in the form of the Investors in People business award. The practice was re-accredited for Investors in People in Spring 2011. In July 2010 the newly refurbished premises and facilities were re-accredited for the RCVS Practice Standards scheme, ensuring that an on-going high quality service is being provided by both the Barton Lodge and Vets Now staff teams.
