SMALL LUMPS ON DOG

30.09.2005

I HAVE A NOTICED A COUPLE OF SMALL LUMPS UNDER THE SKIN ON MY COCKER SPANIEL... THEY ARE ON HIS BACK AND SIDE... SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

- JENNY PERRY

Dear Jenny Perry,

Thank you for your enquiry. No abnormal lump or bump on any pet should be ignored or dismissed without a check up. If the lumps are small, non-painful and not growing quickly there is much less risk of them being a serious problem, but one can never confirm this without carrying out tests or biopsies. This can often be done simply without involving surgery so the first step would be a consultation with your vet to arrange for this to be carried out.
