about my puppy

21.09.2009

my pup has started eating his excrement. why is he doing this? is there something wrong with him? ne is weeks old

- joanne lane

Dear Joanne

Thank you for your question about your puppy. I am assuming that you have not had him for very long. Young puppies should always receive a health check with a vet and vaccinations too between 6-12 weeks . This will reveal if there are any medical reasons for his behaviour. Along with the health check thorough and regular worm control treatment is also important and necessary for all puppies. In the short term though the most practical advice is to clean up any faeces from your pup's environment as soon as he has performed. This is a simple way to prevent the problem happening. If you look on this website under the 'Lifelearn e-Pet Health' link there's lots of behaviour advice regarding puppy toilet training.
